What you’ll do:
- Create a team which is a value center instead of a cost center
- Develop modern policies and procedures with an eye toward technology
- Look for opportunities to automate and embrace technology
- Establish and recommend major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company
- Advise management with important financial decisions
- Prepare finance business reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations
- Direct preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification
- Advise management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities
- Provide management with timely reviews of organization’s financial status and progress in its various programs and activities
- Direct determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets
- Advise management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions
- Arrange for audits of company’s accounts
- Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies
- Supervise employees
- Establish external partnerships and vendor relationships
What we need:
- 5+ years life and annuity insurance carrier-focused experience
- BA/BS in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management about the finances of the business and justify certain financial recommendations
- Attention to detail
- Organization and project management skills
- Tax Controller experience and/or knowledge tax laws and business regulations a plus
