Ingredients:

  • 500 g (1.1 pounds) white fish fillets, poached
  • 1/3 cup margarine
    1/2 cup white flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • buttered breadcrumbs (optional) or grated cheese (optional)

Directions:

  1. Flake the poached fish into a well-greased baking dish
  2. In a small saucepan, melt margarine and add 1/2 cup flour
  3. Gradually add the milk, salt, pepper and beaten eggs
  4. Beat thoroughly until smooth and lump-free
  5. Pour over fish and top with a layer of buttered breadcrumbs OR grated cheese.
  6. Bake at 175°C (350°F) for 45 minutes.
