There aren’t too many tasks one can complete in just five minutes, but that’s how fast  Norway’s newest cable car attraction will take you 3,300 feet above sea level to the top of a mountain.

Billed as one of the steepest cable cars in the world, the Loen Skylift in Loen, Norway transports 35-40 guests per cable car from the Fjord station on the Nordfjord to the top of Mount Hoven. Once there, guests can witness breathtaking views of the fjord and Loen village below.

Although the journey up the mountain only lasts a few minutes, there are plenty of additional activities on Mount Hoven that visitors seeking all levels of adventure can enjoy. Guided hiking trails and climbing paths cover the mountain sides, providing wonderful views of the fjord landscape and Jostedalsbreen National Park while other tours include biking, snowshoeing and skiing. Each guided tour offers the option of an easier, shorter experience or a more challenging full-day adventure.

Her Majesty Queen Sonja celebrated the official opening of the Loen Skylift earlier this year at a mountain-top event at the Hoven Restaurant—where guests are welcome to sit cliff side and enjoy the local cuisine. Find more information here.
