Masse Moro is a Norwegian heritage camp located near Eau Claire, Wis., for youth who are 9-15 years old. This summer’s two-week cultural immersion experience takes place July 16-29, 2017.
Here’s what one long-time camper, who later became a counselor and volunteer, had to say about her experience at Masse Moro:
Masse Moro is truly a special place. Campers make friends for life, learn about Norwegian culture and stay active with a busy time plan. The unique thing about Masse Moro is that 90 percent of the staff are past campers, eager to return and share their enthusiasm. Camp is the perfect place for Sons of Norway youth to become more involved in their heritage and the organization. Whenever I returned home from camp, I presented a program in my lodge about my experiences at camp. Members love to hear stories and see pictures from the younger generation and their excitement about Norway. I can assure you that Masse Moro made a big impact on my life; that is why I am still a member of this wonderful organization.
Learning and memories – for a lifetime
At Masse Moro, campers gain leadership skills and experience Norwegian language, food, sports, music and folk dances. Evening cultural and historical programs are part of the experience, too! The camp, in existence since 1979, is sponsored by the Sons of Norway Fifth District. Campers and their families do not need to be members of Sons of Norway.
